CW2 Joshua M. Scott
February 3, 1977 - May 26, 2005 CW2 Scott of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, out of Ft. Bragg, NC. He deployed to Iraq in November of 2004. On May 26, 2005 CW2 Scott was flying an OH-58 (Kiowa Warrior) on a mission in Buhriz, Iraq when he and his co-pilot CW4 Matthew Lourey came under attack from small arms fire and crashed. Both pilots were killed on impact. It is reported that Joshua and his co-pilot without regard for their own welfare provided covering fire for the infantry ground forces. Joshua graduated high school in 1995, enlisting immediately afterwards. Joining the Army was a lifelong dream for CW2 Scott; he played army games and built forts growing up. He married his high school sweetheart, Sherri in 1999 and they welcomed three children into their family. One of the sergeants who processed the personal effects of these two heroes found pictures of their loved ones, close to their hearts in their flight suits. This Sergeant also states that a day doesn’t go by that he doesn’t think of those two heroes and how kind and friendly they were at all times. Joshua’s mother, Catherine Scott is so grateful to have the portrait and has thanked me many times. I want to thank her for raising such a beautiful son! We express our gratitude and sympathies to Catherine, and Joshua’s entire family. Portrait sponsored by: |
